Mechanism of action
Ursodeoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring bile acid that decreases the cholesterol content of bile by suppressing hepatic synthesis and secretion of cholesterol and inhibiting intestinal absorption. It promotes the dissolution of cholesterol gallstones and helps protect liver cells.
