Mechanism of action
Tazarotene is a receptor-selective retinoid prodrug that is converted to its active form, tazarotenic acid. It binds to retinoic acid receptors (RAR) to modulate gene expression involved in cell differentiation and proliferation, reducing epidermal hyperplasia.
