Mechanism of action
Indometacin inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) enzymes, which are responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. Decreasing prostaglandin levels reduces the inflammatory response and perception of pain in the body.
