Mechanism of action
Bempedoic acid inhibits ATP citrate lyase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. By reducing this cholesterol production, it increases LDL receptor activity, thereby lowering circulating LDL-cholesterol levels.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Contraindicated; must not be used. Breastfeeding: Contraindicated due to risk to the infant.
