Patient summary

Utilized to manage hypertension, formulated to target calcium channels and support stable blood pressure control.

Mechanism of action

Verampil inhibits the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle cells. This relaxation of vascular smooth muscle dilates arterioles, decreasing peripheral vascular resistance and reducing blood pressure, whilst also slowing conduction through the atrioventricular node.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy: Use only if clearly indicated and no safer alternative exists. Breastfeeding: Excreted in breast milk; advise use with caution.
