Mechanism of action
Venlafaxine is a potent inhibitor of neuronal serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake and a weak inhibitor of dopamine reuptake. By increasing the levels of these neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft, it helps sustain balanced mood and cognitive response.
