Mechanism of action
Terbinafine inhibits squalene epoxidase, a fungal enzyme, which disrupts the biosynthesis of ergosterol. This deficit, combined with the accumulation of squalene within the cell, leads to fungal cell death.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Not recommended. Breastfeeding: Terbinafine is excreted in breast milk; advise against use.
