Mechanism of action

Griseofulvin is fungistatic. It works by binding to tubulin, which interferes with microtubule function and inhibits mitosis in fungal cells. It deposits in keratin precursor cells, making the newly formed keratin resistant to fungal invasion.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy: Avoid use due to potential risk to the developing foetus. Breastfeeding: Generally not recommended.
