Mechanism of action
Ondansetron acts as a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist. It blocks serotonin receptors both peripherally on vagal nerve terminals and centrally in the chemoreceptor trigger zone of the area postrema, inhibiting the emetic reflex.
