Mechanism of action

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that blocks the binding of angiotensin II to the AT1 receptor, resulting in reduced vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, thereby lowering blood pressure.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Pregnancy: Contraindicated as it may cause damage to the developing foetus. Breastfeeding: Not recommended.
