Patient summary

Mechanism of action

Clomiphene is a non-steroidal fertility agent. By binding to oestrogen receptors, it blocks the negative feedback of endogenous oestrogen on the hypothalamus. This triggers an increased release of gonadotropins (FSH and LH), resulting in follicular development and ovulation.
