Mechanism of action
Thiamazole inhibits the synthesis of thyroid hormones by preventing the oxidation of iodine and the coupling of iodotyrosines, thereby reducing the production of thyroxine and triiodothyronine.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: Not recommended in the first trimester. Breastfeeding: Use with caution as it passes into breast milk.
