Mechanism of action
Dutasteride works by inhibiting the enzyme 5-alpha reductase (types 1 and 2), which converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Lowering DHT levels shrinks an enlarged prostate gland and halts the progression of hormone-driven hair loss in men.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy: must not be handled by pregnant women as it affects male fetal development. Breastfeeding: not for use by women.
