Mechanism of action

Cefuroxime acts as a bactericidal agent by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins inside the bacteria, causing cell lysis and eventually resulting in the death of the microorganisms causing the infection.
